Right guys,
Some of you might know, im planning on running Megasquirt on a 1.8 zetec. Im unsure what rating alternator to use.
The main things it will have to drive will be. MS, Fuel pump, lights, dash, (had several other things that I cant think of) of and charging the battery. Im thinking around 30-35Amp?

Your opinions please?

The power needs of the Roadster is quite modest, I'll stick my neck out & say, what you have sugested will be more than enough. ;)

I think most compact alternators that you will come accross in the breakers will easilly exceed that rating.

My own Nippon-Denso unit is rated at about 60A . Diahatsu Spotrak/Fourtrak

The Nippon-Denso units are very compact & are to found on many Jap cars at the breakers ;)

Decent battery + modern alternator, the job will be agood'n

Chaise Ron!
I shall keep my eyes peeled!
Thought of the other 2 things that need power, Edis and Coils!
Will do my research, some maths, then keep an eye out for a suzuki or dihatsu breaking!

I don't think you need to worry about the electronics side of things Jas. They don't draw a large amount of power. ;)
The biggest power users will be the starter motor, lights & cooling fan when they are in use.

Todays modern cars are packed with electrics  Wipers,Air con, Lecy windows, heated screens & the likes.
Most unlikely that you will find a moddern alternator that isn't up to the job :D

That said. Knowing you. Your planning on fitting a massive sound system & multiple booster amps   Best get the most powerfull one you can get
