my build table is two old metal school tables welded together witha sheet of 12mm ply with some cls timber screwed round its edges, works a treat. checking for level doesnt matter but perfectly flat is a must. i used a 1meter steel rule across it to check for square, now the chassis is done i can laya straight edge across it flat no problem
