Done a bit more shopping. These shite and briny alloy rear hub carriers turned up today from the bay of thieves for sixty of the hard earned. Bargain as they retail at about £180 and these ones included a new set of bearings.
Some bits from weight watchers turned up in the form of a pair of big valve ali heads, they are also a big power hike .Its a weight saving of about 20kg so now with all the other ali engine bits the v8 302 ford is lighter than a Pinto
Off to equnox tomorrow to collect my panels ,i will be armed with the camera and will take some snaps of the set up. Last time I visited there were some very interesting projects on the go
With the cave all finished and just about all the bits bought now i have managed to find some time to make a start. When i was messing about with the mule I never had any bodywork to double check things with so now thats here i stuck the chassis to the ramp with some clamps and offered up a mule engine to check positions and start to make up the engine mounts.
The ford 302 s a simple mont that just needs a bolt pushed through it.
I spun up the two tube spacers on the lathe.
Fitted the mount with spacer to the dummy engine and centralised it all in the chassis.
Out with the cereal packets t make some cardboard templates which will be transferred to some 3mm plate. It must be somewhere about right because they fit the same both sides of the car.
